THE MUSLIM NEIGHBOUR.
The true Muslim does not restrict his good manners and treatment to neighbours who are related to him or who are Muslims, but he extends it to his non-Muslim neighbours too, so that the tolerance of Islam may spread to all people, regardless of their race or religion. The eminent Sahabi Abdullahi bn Amr had a sheep slaughtered and asked his slave:, "Did you some meat to our Jewish neighbour? For I heard the Prophet (pbuh) say:, 'Jibril kept enjoining the goo treatment of neighbours to the extent that I thought he would include neighbors as heirs'.
The Jews and the Christians lived among Muslims for centuries, knowing that they, their honor, their wealth and their beliefs are secure, and enjoying neighbourly relations, good treatment and freedom of worship. <<Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loves those who are just>> Q:60:8
There are lessons to be learned from the verse above:
1. Islam compels Muslims to uphold justice to all mankind regardless of who they are; even if they are the fiercest of enemies.
2. Allah's love for those who are just and uphold justice.
3. It is a sin to commit injustice to non-Muslims in the name of jihad or what-so-ever it may be.
4. Justice breaks the barriers of race, ethnicity and religion.
5. This is a proof that killing innocent people in the name of Islam is forbidden by Allah, and even unjust killing of offenders is not allowed Islam.
We can understand that the True Message of Islam is conveyed through the good manners and justice that the we Muslims inherited from our Nabiiy saw, the Sahaabas and the Pious Predecessors. There is no compulsion for anyone to join Islam, as our Prophet saw had Jewish and Christians as his neighbours.
I don't mean to please any group of people with my writing. I am only discharging my duties in the best possible way I can as a Muslim; to cleanse and eviscerate the wrong picture that is being painted by the media against THE MOST Beautiful Religion in the universe; Islam. I wish all can see clearly, the true picture of Islam; its beauty and freedom from the shackles of the temptations of this Dunya. I wish they know the true meaning of 'LA'ILAHA ILLALLAH'. I wish they understand the words of the Qur'an in Arabic; the sweetness of its true meaning. I wish they can feel the tranquility of Salah. I wish they experience the serenity of Ramadan; the quest for Lailatul Qadr. I wish they know that overwhelming feeling of the Hajj Pilgrimage; the wonderful sight of the Ka'aba. I wish they witness the and have a taste of the undying Love we have for the Prophet s.a.w.. I wish all the people out there with open minds and objectivity; I wish that they embrace the true religion of God (Islam) so that they become Ideal Muslims.
