Success. What is success? If we answer this question based on how society defines it, success is measured by our qualifications,
the car we drive, the size of our house, the amount of money we earn etc etc. If we answer this question based on what the Quran tells us, then all of the above means absolutely nothing. Zilch. Success is having imaan. Success is doing good deeds. Success is calling people to the truth. Success is having sabr. A successful person is therefore someone who has all four of the above; true imaan, does sincere good deeds, calls people to the truth and has sabr. Each of these four elements has its own conditions which must be fulfilled and we need to strive to understand and implement these in our lives. Only then will we be successful. There is nothing wrong with having material things so long as we don't fall in love with them and start measuring success by them. A wise person once said "Having Dunya is not the problem, loving Dunya is."
